Limited to 499 units, Audi’s first high-performance hybrid supercar becomes the brand’s most powerful production model yet.
Audi has unveiled the Nuvolari, its first supercar with a high-performance hybrid powertrain and the most powerful production vehicle yet from the four rings. Shown as a near-production prototype, the limited-run model will be restricted to 499 units, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027. Audi says the Nuvolari develops 736 kW, or 987, and can exceed 350 kmph.
The headline figures place the Nuvolari firmly in the upper tier of the global hybrid supercar market.

Audi claims 0–100 kmph in 2.6 seconds and 0–200 kmph in 6.8 seconds, subject to battery temperature and state-of-charge conditions. The powertrain combines a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine producing 588 kW with three axial flux electric motors and a 7.3 kWh lithium-ion battery.
“With the Audi Nuvolari, we are accelerating technological progress,” said Audi CEO Gernot Döllner, adding that the car reflects a focus on “technology, performance, and execution through teamwork”.
The statement frames the Nuvolari less as a conventional model-line extension and more as a strategic technology demonstrator for Audi’s next performance phase.
The Formula 1 link is central to that positioning. Audi is competing in Formula 1 with its own factory team in 2026, a programme the company has tied to its wider strategic realignment. Audi CTO Rouven Mohr said Formula 1 is a “key impulse” for bringing innovations to road cars quickly and precisely, a claim reflected in the Nuvolari’s active aerodynamics, brake-by-wire system, energy management strategy and carbon-intensive body construction.
The Nuvolari also introduces what Audi calls quattro predictive ride, an evolution of the brand’s all-wheel-drive identity. The system uses sensor inputs such as steering angle, acceleration, yaw rate and grip level to distribute torque, manage braking interventions and adjust aerodynamic load before a loss of traction develops. The front electric motors play a key role in torque vectoring, giving the car a technical link between electrification and chassis control rather than using hybrid assistance only for straight-line performance.
Design is another marker. Audi says the Nuvolari is the first production model shaped by its new design philosophy, with a mid-engine stance, carbon exterior panels and active aerodynamic elements including a deployable adaptive rear wing. In high-downforce mode, the car can generate more than 400 kg of downforce, according to the company.
For India, the Nuvolari’s relevance is likely to be more symbolic than volume-led unless Audi confirms allocation, homologation and pricing. Audi India currently positions itself across premium SUVs, sedans and electric vehicles, while the local supercar market remains highly import-dependent and sensitive to duties, infrastructure and ultra-low-volume allocation.
Even so, the Nuvolari gives Audi a fresh halo product at a time when performance brands are using hybridisation to extend combustion-engine theatre while meeting tightening regulatory expectations. Its larger significance may lie beyond the 499 cars themselves: in how quickly Audi can move lessons from motorsport, carbon construction, battery-boost strategy and predictive chassis systems into broader RS and electric performance portfolios.
