The Q5 Sportback is now in its second generation.
Just a few months after Audi debuted the Q5 SUV, the German marque has now revealed its coupe version, called the Q5 Sportback. While the Q5 is now in its third generation, the Q5 Sportback is in its second generation. Like the standard Q5, the Q5 Sportback will also be available with the SQ5 variant right from the start.
Cosmetically, the Q5 Sportback looks identical to the new Q5 till the B-Pillar. Since it is a coupe SUV, the Q5 Sportback has a sloping roofline and a triangular rear quarter window. At the back, the Q5 Sportback has the same taillamps and lightbar as the standard Q5 but it has a different spoiler and rear windscreen.
The dashboard of the Q5 Sportback is the same as the Q5 SUV with a triple-screen layout, which is also seen in other new Audi models like the Q6 e-tron, A6 e-tron, A5, etc. It gets a few USB-C ports and bare minimum of physical buttons in the centre console. Audi has always had a nice ambient lighting system in its cars and the Q5 Sportback is no different either. There’s a strip that runs behind the dashboard, the front cupholders get their own ambient lighting strips and even the doors have subtle ambient lighting.
Under the hood, the Q5 Sportback will be available with three powertrain options. The first is a 2.0-litre TFSI engine with 201 bhp and 340 Nm with front-wheel drive as standard and Quattro all-wheel drive as an option. The other is a 2.0-litre TDI with 201 bhp and 300 Nm but this is only available with all-wheel drive. The SQ5 comes with a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI engine with 362 bhp and 550 Nm. All engines come with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that develops 24 bhp and 230 Nm.
