The brand’s two-wheeler segment was hit particularly hard last month, with domestic sales stooping down by 13 per cent.
Bajaj Auto reported that its total sales fell by 6 per cent in April 2025 with total units dropping to 3,65,810 in April 2025, from 3,88,256 units in April 2024. This decline follows a record-breaking March 2025, when Bajaj sold 34,863 Chetak electric scooters, securing the top position in the electric two-wheeler market for the second straight month.
The brand’s two-wheeler segment was hit particularly hard in April, with overall sales decreasing 7 per cent to 3,17,937 units from 3,41,789 units a year earlier. Domestic two-wheeler sales saw an even steeper 13 per cent drop, falling to 1,88,615 units from 2,16,950 in April 2024. This trend is particularly noticeable in how sales of the Bajaj Pulsar range dipped in FY 25 by 6.04 per cent. Inspite of this, the Bajaj Pulsar range still outsells TVS Apache range of bikes. But on a larger scale, both TVS and Honda are gradually eating into the sales of TVS, as was revealed by the latest SIAM report.
On a positive note, two-wheeler exports increased by 4 per cent, reaching 1,29,322 units compared to last year's 1,24,839 units. But to be on the fairer side, sales of most manufacturers have dropped slightly at the start of the new financial year and this has been a trend across segments.
While specific electric two-wheeler figures weren't included in the April report, the significant decline in domestic two-wheeler sales suggests a possible slowdown. On top of that, Vahan also reported that Bajaj Auto has slipped down to third position and now ranks below Ola Electric which sold 708 more electric scooters than the Pune-based manufacturer.
Bajaj Auto's strong electric two-wheeler performance throughout FY2025 was partly driven by the new 35 Series launched in December 2024. This series was recently expanded to include the new 3503, which comes packed with the 3.5 kWh battery and features an extended range of 153 km. However, it gets less features, which helps its case with a very affordable asking price. This should work in Bajaj’s favour and help its case regain some lost ground.
