Auto Sales August 2024: Top 5 Bestselling Compact SUVs In India

SUVs have been all the rage in the Indian automotive industry for quite a while now and August 2024 was no different. The compact SUV segment sees one of the most fierce competition in the market with more than 10 models on sale in India currently. Let’s take a look at the top 5 bestselling compact SUVs in August 2024.

1. Hyundai Creta - 16,722 units

Topping the list regularly is the Hyundai Creta. The compact SUV from the South Korean manufacturer is also the bestselling model from the brand. The Creta, now in its second generation, received a massive facelift earlier this year. Hyundai’s compact SUV comes with three engine options along with four gearbox options. It also comes equipped with features like a panoramic sunroof, two 10.25-inch screens, a 360-degree camera, a Bose-tuned audio system, six airbags and ADAS, among others. 

2. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara - 9,021 units

The second compact SUV on this list is trailing the Creta by a huge margin. The Grand Vitara was launched in India two years ago and has been a strong-selling model for Maruti Suzuki. It is one of two models in the segment that come with a strong hybrid powertrain. It also has a petrol engine as well as an all-wheel drive configuration. The features list includes a 9-inch touchscreen, 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, head-up display, six airbags and more. 

3. Kia Seltos - 6,536 units

Once a best-selling model for Kia India, the Seltos hasn’t been doing that well recently. However, it is still one of the best-selling models in the segment. Like the Creta, it comes with three engine options but gets five gearbox options. The Seltos is also a feature-loaded vehicle as it packs two 10.25-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a Bose-tuned audio system, six airbags and ADAS. 

4. Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder - 6,534 units

Toyota entered this cutthroat segment with the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which was the first model in the segment to get a strong hybrid powertrain. Like its platform-sharing rival, the Grand Vitara, the Hyryder also gets a petrol engine and an all-wheel drive system. The Hyryder also comes with features like a 9-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, six airbags and more. 

5. Tata Curvv - 3,455 units

The latest entrant in the segment is Tata Motors’ Curvv coupe SUV. The Curvv is available with electric and internal combustion engines (ICEs), and these sales figures include both. Like all Tata Motors models, the Curvv is also a feature-loaded SUV that comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, six airbags and ADAS, among others.
