The slew of launches definitely paid off for Royal Enfield at the end of 2024.
Royal Enfield was pretty busy throughout 2024, after all the Chennai-based manufacturer launched four new bikes last year. And all these launches finally paid off dividends in the last month of the year wherein the brand’s domestic sales increased by 19 per cent. In December 2024, Royal Enfield retailed 67,891 units in India, compared to the 57,291 units it retailed in December 2023. But the biggest achievement has to be with its export business which grew massively by 90 per cent. Royal Enfield exported 11,575 units in December 2024, compared to the 6,096 units it did in December 2023.
All in all, Royal Enfield’s sales performance improved by 25 per cent last month with a total of 79,466 units retailed, compared to 63,387 units it retailed in 2023, in the same month. On a year-to-date basis, Royal Enfield domestic sales performance increased by 4 per cent with 6,52,856 units retailed from April to December, while its export business grew by 35 per cent wherein it exported 74,221 units, compared to 54,786 units it retailed in the period before, in 2023.
The growth in Royal Enfield’s export business comes courtesy of RE’s foreign expansion plans. In 2024, Royal Enfield finally commenced operations of its first fully owned and operated CKD facility in Bangkok. This new plant is aimed at strengthening Royal Enfield’s foothold in the Thai market and the wider Asia-Pacific region. This new facility also joined RE’s existing CKD facility in Argentina, Colombia,Brazil, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
Speaking on the occasion of this achievement, B Govindarajan, CEO, Royal Enfield said, “As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on a truly remarkable year for us at Royal Enfield. We’ve launched some category-defining motorcycles through the year, and it is encouraging to see the response to our recently launched motorcycles both in India and international markets. As we gear up for 2025, we are looking forward to sustaining our growth momentum and continue inspiring our riding community across the globe with Pure Motorcycling initiatives across the board.”
This positive sales momentum should continue into 2025 as well for Royal Enfield already has a couple of exciting launches scheduled. This includes the new Royal Enfield Scram 440 and the bigger Classic 650. But the most anticipated product has to be the new, bigger Royal Enfield Himalayan 750. The prototype bike was recently spotted for the second time being tested in Europe, giving us more than a fair idea of the kind of equipment it will pack in. While the bike might not launch next year, it is expected to be showcased at the EICMA 2025. You can read all about the same by heading to the link here.
