A completely updated portfolio, plus new electric scooters and a bunch of new premium big bikes offerings is working in favour for Honda.
Honda closed February 2025 by retailing a total of 4,22,449 bikes and scooters both in the domestic and export markets. Although this is a marginal month-on-month sales decrease of 5.03 per cent, on a year-to-year basis the Japanese brand sold 2.01 per cent more two-wheelers as against the 4,13,967 units it sold last year in the same period. When compared to other manufacturers like Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj, Honda sold 8.14 per cent and 56.58 per cent more two-wheelers, respectively, last month.
In the nearly 4.23 lakh two-wheelers that Honda manufactured last month, 3,83,918 units were retailed in the domestic market. This was 4.73 per cent less against the 4,02,977 units it retailed the month before in January 2025. Despite this minor month-on-month decline, Honda’s year-to-date production in the domestic market stands at 49,25,241 units, which is 8.45 per cent more against the 45,41,323 units that Honda sold domestically in the same period last financial year.
This growth in domestic sales performance has majorly to do with the slew of new updated models that Honda launched in quick successions. From the Livo, Dio, and Activa, to the Shine 125 and Hornet 2.0 being the recent ones. It also launched the CB200X under the new NX badgename as the NX200, drawing parallels with its elder sibling the NX500. Plus the launch of the CBR650R and CB650R, last year was another impressive move that has caught the attention of several bike enthusiasts in the country. Its debut all-electric offerings, the Activa e: and QC1 has already been launched and with deliveries slated to commence soon, Honda’s revenue should grow further. Given this diverse portfolio at hand, Honda seems well poised to surpass other legacy manufacturers.
