A series of launches last year that particularly catered to the western markets is finally reflecting on Royal Enfield’s data sheet.
Royal Enfield has started 2025 right where it left off in 2024. The Chennai-based manufacturer posted a cumulative growth of 20 per cent by retailing 91,132 bikes in both domestic and export markets. The majority of the growth came from its export business, which grew by a whopping 79 per cent from 5,631 units to 10,080 units. In the domestic market alone, RE’s sales registered a year-on-year growth of 15 per cent, from 70,556 units in January 2024, to 81,052 units in January 2025. The latter was a further 19.39 per cent month-on-month growth from the 67,891 units it retailed in December 2024.
Such positive sentiment for Royal Enfield has ridden high on the back of one particular bike – the Hunter 350. The brand’s most affordable offering yet, which has been in production for just 2.5 years, has already breached the 5 lakh+ sales milestone. This speaks volumes about RE being an accessible brand and how widespread it is as a motorcycle company now, which is now no longer recognised for just two nameplates: Classic and Bullet. To keep the Hunter 350 afresh looking RE even introduced new colours with the bike.
On the other hand, the “Scram” badge finally launched in its revived avatar last month. With a bigger engine, better brakes, and new features - the new Scram 440 promises to be much better than before. After an aggressive 2024 which saw Royal Enfield launch four brand new bikes – the brand will not replicate the same pace this year. However, it will focus more on “Pure Motorcycling” events across the board” this year, B Govindarajan, CEO, Royal Enfield had said earlier. What will they be and the nature of these ride be? We’ll start learning about them soon.
