Suzuki India has kickstarted its 2025 campaign on quite the encouraging note by selling 12.52 per cent more scooters and bikes last month, in January, compared to December 2024. It cumulatively retailed 1,08,921 units which was a further 14 per cent year-on-year sales increase to January 2024. Both of these credentials have now helped the marque breach the 10 lakh sales mark for FY 24-25 with its total tally so far standing at 10,40,025 units.
The scenario was quite positive in the domestic market wherein Suzuki sold 87,834 units in January 2025, which was 9 per cent more than the 80,511 units it retailed in January 2024. Its export business also grew significantly. The Japanese exported 38 per cent more scooters and bikes last month, which stood at 21,087 units, compared to 15,251 units it exported in January 2024. On the other hand, Suzuki has also surpassed the December 2024 export sales which saw the mareque register 72 per cent y-o-y growth at 17,970 units. So the latest data is a further 17.35 per cent growth from December 2024.
Suzuki is slated to have quite the exciting year ahead. It just launched the updated 2025 Access at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo. Alongside, it also debuted its all-electric brethren, the e-Access. The latter also marks Suzuki’s venture into the much coveted electric two-wheeler space. While prices for the electric scooter are yet to be unveiled, it remains to be seen how crucial this new scooter becomes to further revive Suzuki’s position in the country.
