In the domestic market, Maruti's PV sales reached 137,000 units, a slight increase from the previous year.
Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car manufacturer, reported robust double-digit sales growth in June, selling 179,000 units, which represents a 12.4 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. This performance was bolstered by a substantial 57 per cent year-on-year rise in total export sales, which amounted to 31,033 units.
In the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki's Passenger Vehicle (PV) sales reached 137,000 units, showing a slight increase from the previous year. This figure includes sales of Utility Vehicles (UV) such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, and Jimny. The marginal growth in domestic PV sales suggests intense competition in the UV segment, particularly from competitors like Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M).
Models like the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR continued to remain popular products from the company but registered a nominal decline, from 64,471 units to 64,049 in June 2024, a degrowth of 0.65 per cent. The exports stood at 31,033 units from 19,770 in the same period last year, a growth of 56.97 per cent.
During the April-June 2024 period, the carmaker 521,868 units compared to 498,030 units sold between April-June 2023, a hike of 4.79 per cent, while in the passenger vehicle segment, Maruti managed 419,114 units compared to 414,055 units sold in the same period last quarter, a growth of just 1.22 per cent.
