Total passenger vehicle (PV) sales, including exports, stood at 37,237 units in June 2025, a 15% decrease from 43,624 units in June 2024.

Tata Motors recorded total sales of 2,10,415 vehicles in the first quarter of FY26 (April to June 2025), down 8.5% from the 2,29,891 units sold in Q1 FY25. This decline reflects ongoing demand challenges in both the passenger and commercial vehicle segments, especially in May and June. For June 2025 alone, Tata Motors sold 65,019 units domestically, marking a 12% year-on-year decline from 74,147 units sold in June 2024. The dip in June volumes was spread across most major categories, including passenger vehicles and small commercial vehicles.

Total passenger vehicle (PV) sales, including exports, stood at 37,237 units in June 2025, a 15% decrease from 43,624 units in June 2024. Domestic PV sales accounted for 37,083 units. Within this, electric vehicles (EVs) were a relative bright spot with 5,228 units sold in June, up 12% year-on-year, showing early signs of recovery after a slow start to the quarter. The refreshed Tiago and newly launched Altroz and Harrier EV contributed to momentum in the EV and hatchback segments.

Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors Ltd. said, “Q1 FY26 began on a subdued note for the commercial vehicle industry with muted performance in the HCV and SCVPU segments while Buses, Vans, and ILMCVs registered modest year-on-year growth.

Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle (PV) division, including electric vehicles and international business, recorded total sales of 1,24,809 units in Q1 FY26 — a 10% decrease from 1,38,682 units in Q1 FY25. Of this, domestic PV sales stood at 1,23,839 units, while international business contributed 970 units.

Electric vehicles (EVs), however, continued to show resilience. Tata’s EV sales totalled 16,231 units during the quarter, a marginal dip of 2% year-on-year, but with visible momentum towards the end of the period. The Tiago EV saw a 16% growth during the quarter, and recently launched models like the Altroz and Harrier EV received positive market response.

Despite the broader slowdown in PV demand—especially in May and June—the company remains optimistic. According to Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, the brand is strategically placed to gain market share, leveraging new launches across hatchbacks, SUVs, and EVs.
