The boost in sales was driven by the rising popularity of the Ather Rizta.
The festive season brought with it some good news for folks at Ather Energy as the company registered its best ever monthly sales. The Bengaluru-based startup announced that sales in October crossed the 20,000 units milestone thereby registering an impressive 70% year-on-year sales growth. The market share for the electric scooter manufacturer also had grown from 7.9% in July to 14.3% in September, 2024. The jump in sales is very crucial for Ather as the company has recently filed for a ₹4,500 crore IPO.
According to the company, the boost in sales is courtesy the Ather Rizta, its first family electric scooter. The Ather 450 is focused towards performance and youthful riders, the Rizta on the other hand is more practical offering the riders with lots of usable features, convenience and space. The rise in popularity of the Rizta also signifies that production for the new electric scooter is streamlined and it’s easily available at Ather dealerships across the country. The company currently has 231 dealerships across the country and over 2,500 charging stations, in fact, Ather is the only two-wheeler EV brand in India to have such a large charging infra.
Given the strong demand for its scooters, Ather had announced earlier this year that it wil be setting up a new manufacturing plant in Maharashtra. The upcoming facility located in Chatrapati Sambhaji Nagar will complement its existing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Ather is also working on a new electric motorcycle under the Zenith platform and a low cost electric scooter as part of the EL platform. The low-cost electric scooter is vital for the future growth of the company as EV costs in India are rising as subsidies have reduced drastically as part of the new PM E-DRIVE scheme which replaced FAME II.
