The Activa continues to be the flagbearer of Honda’s sales performance.
Honda’s two-wheeler business reported an 11% year-over-year growth with total sales reaching 583,633 units in September 2024. The company saw growth across both domestic and export markets, and its evergreen Activa continues to push the sales for the brand.
So much so, that just last month it again crossed another major milestone and this time in South India. The Honda Activa crossed the 10 million sales milestone in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands - Making it one of the most sold scooters yet now.
Consequently, Honda’s domestic sales increased by 9 per cent to 536,391 units, while exports showed strong performance with a 34 per cent jump to 47,242 units. For the fiscal year to date (April-September 2024), the company has sold 2.88 million units domestically and exported 276,958 units.
The Honda Activa has not just been pushing the marque’s sales, but also of the overall scooter segment in itself.. Beyond that, HMSI also expanded its presence through various initiatives, including safety awareness campaigns in 12 cities and the launch of a youth employment project in Mizoram through its foundation.
On the other end of the spectrum, last month also saw Honda issue a massive recall of its 300-350 cc bikes such as the Honda CB 350 series. This time the motorcycles were recalled over a sensor failure that could lead to errors in the traction control and ABS, which in turn could cause serious accidents. What makes this all the more serious is the fact that the affected bikes were manufactured for four years – making it quite a big number.
