SUVs continue to be Hyundai’s chief sales driving factor

Despite the monsoons being in full swing in August, Hyundai managed to deliver a consistent sales performance, managing to sell 63,175 cars. When it comes to the year-to-date performance, it has improved its tally marginally, though, selling 5,13,510 units so far.

“SUVs, led by models like Creta, Venue and Exter remain a key growth driver for HMIL in 2024 with a 66.8% contribution to domestic sales. We are soon going to launch the bold new 6 and 7-seater SUV, Hyundai Alcazar and we are confident of a strong festive season response to this new launch," commented Tarun Garg, Hyundai’s Chief Operating Officer.

Yes, SUVs are Hyundai’s main source of sales. The company sold 49,525 units in the domestic market, most of which happen to be SUVs. While the Exter and Venue continue to be hot sellers for the South Korean brand, the refreshed Creta has played a key role in helping Hyundai solidify its Indian presence.

Hyundai will make the most use of the festive period for the launch of the Alcazar. The 6/7 seater SUV will likely feature a cabin similar to the one we have seen on the new Creta. The boxier and bolder front end makes the Alcazar feel a lot more muscular. As for the powertrain, the previous 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol as well as the 1.5-litre CRDi diesel motors will continue to be offered. More details on the upcoming SUV in this story.
