The Chetak 2901 is the most affordable electric scooter from Bajaj Auto.
Bajaj Auto Ltd., expanded its electric scooter portfolio by launching the new Chetak 2901. The new variant of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has been brought in to make the EV brand more accessible to the masses. The Bajaj Chetak 2901 is priced at ₹ 95,998 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). In comparison, the Bajaj Chetak Urbane retails for ₹ 1.23 lakh and the Chetak Premium will set you back by ₹ 1.47 lakh (both prices mentioned are ex-showroom). So as you can see the Chetak 2901 is much more affordable than its siblings in the Chetak electric scooter portfolio.
The Chetak 2901 features a 2.88 kWh battery pack whereas the Chetak Urbane sports a 2.90 kWh battery pack. Despite running almost the same battery pack, the Chetak 2901 has a claimed range of 123 km, whereas that of the Chetak Urbane is 113 km. In terms of performance the Chetak 2901 is slower as it has a claimed top speed of 63 kmph, the Urbane claims 73 kmph. The big difference is the charging time of both the scooters as the new Chetak takes 6 hours for a full charge, whereas the Urbane variant is fully charged in 4 hours and 30 mins.
The aggressive pricing is courtesy cost-cutting in features as the Chetak 2901 in its stock form receives just Eco ride mode, while with the additional Tecpac (₹ 3,000), riders can unlock features such as Sports mode, hill hold, reverse mode and limited app connectivity. In terms of styling and underpinnings, the new Chetak 2901 is similar to its siblings.
Discussing the latest offering from Bajaj Auto, Eric Vas, President, President, Urbanite, Bajaj Auto Ltd., shared, “We are pleased to announce the start of shipments of Chetak 2901 to Chetak dealerships. The Chetak 2901 is designed, specced and priced to attract customers who are currently purchasing a petrol scooter to a proper full size metal body electric scooter that can match and exceed a petrol scooter, without denting their wallet. The Chetak 2901 can be had for an on-road price close to that of a petrol scooter and comes with more than 123 kms of ARAI certified range. Retails to consumers shall start from 15 June onwards."
With the Chetak 2901, for the first time, the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has been offered at a price point that starts under ₹ 1 lakh. This strategy by Bajaj is very critical as cost of EVs has gone up massively as subsidy schemes have started diminishing in many states. The same strategy has been employed by its rivals such as Ola,TVS and Ather. Booking for the new Chetak electric scooter is open across all 500+ dealerships spread across the country and on the official website.
