Sales of the Freedom 125 dropped massively since January 2025.
Bajaj’s and the world’s first and only CNG motorcycle, the Freedom 125, had started off on quite an enthusiastic note. Raking in sales of 5000 units in just 3-4 months of launch was quite the encouraging response for the brand. However, since January 2025, sales of the Freedom 125 have plummeted to some extent, wherein it retailed 1,345 units compared to sales of 4,173 units in December 2024. Situations did improve in March 2025 by 36 per cent compared to February 2025 sales, but the range has more or less remained the same, wherein in May it retailed 1,037 units again.

To bring the Freedom 125’s sales back to their 2024 standards, Bajaj is offering the CNG bike with a flat cash discount of ₹5,000 on its on-road price. All three variants—drum, Drum LED, and Disc LED—are eligible for this discount. A few dealerships across India are also offering a few additional accessories for free, all to attract more customers.
While the discount offer has been available since March 2025, Bajaj might continue it further depending on sustained demand. However, in April 2025, Bajaj sold just 993 units, a whopping 29 per cent month-on-month decline.

Despite Bajaj’s widespread network, the CNG gas tank network is not that well distributed. This has become one big hindrance for the Freedom 125 from attracting more buyers. Besides this shortcoming, this is quite an economical commuter option here. Operational costs compared to a conventional bike are also quite less.
