Closer look at the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z in 15 images

Bajaj has launched the largest displacement Pulsar NS model. Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z has been priced at ₹ 1.85 lakh and seems to offer great value for that price. Here is a closer look at the newest Pulsar member and its various features.

2

The front of the Pulsar NS400Z features two lightning bolt-shaped DRLs flanking a projector headlight setup. The bold and sharp cuts and creases on the front create a striking impression. The headlight includes a switch that allows riders to use only the DRLs during daytime riding.

3

The bike comes in four colour schemes: Glossy Racing Red, Pearl Metallic White, Brooklyn Black, and Pewter Grey. These colours are complemented by graphics that enhance the sporty look of the floating panel design.

4

The flagship Pulsar gets a digital instrument cluster. It has a reverse LCD type layout. There is a bar type digital tachometer on the top. This has a fuel gauge on one side and other info like the gear position indicator, clock and side stand status on one side. Other information such as odometer, trip metre and ride modes and traction control are placed at the bottom below the speed.

5

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z has Bluetooth connectivity. This Bluetooth pairing allows riders to get notification for incoming calls, missed calls, message alerts, phone battery status, and network signal strength. It also has a lap timer. Along with this a small square-shaped dot matrix display to the right likely displays turn-by-turn navigation information.

6

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z makes use of a perimeter frame. This is the same frame that can be seen on the Bajaj NS pulsar lineup. This frame is in silver on all colour modes. The sub frame houses the split seat and the pegs for the pillion rider.

7

The frame is mounted to a 43mm golden USD fork. This fork adds to the design aesthetic while it might also give the Pulsar NS400Z better handling.

8

The new Pulsar features a box section swing arm and a monoshock unit. It has a tyre hugger mounted on the left side giving a floating look and has one side cleanly revealing the wheel. The tail section is sleek and pretty tidy.

9

At the core of the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is the engine as seen on the Dominar 400 It is a 373cc engine making 40 bhp and 35 Nm. This engine is high revving and Bajaj has changed bits to give it a higher top speed of 154 kmph.

10

The guard flanking the radiator gets a carbon fibre and brushed aluminium finish. Below the engine there is a belly pan with the 400 decal.

11

The Bajaj NS400Z has a ride-by-wire system which allows for more accurate traction control and ride mode applications. This throttle side switch gear also has a hazard light button which has been introduced for the first time on any Pulsar Model.

12

The left side handlebar features the new switchgear with a switch cube. This allows you to control multiple features and the 4 ride modes offered on the Bajaj NS400Z.

13

Looking at the wheels we notice that the alloy wheel design has been taken from the Pulsar N250. It has a pin stripe around it which matches the colours and graphics of the bike.

14

The front wheel of the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z has a bigger 320 mm disc brake rotor mounted on the wheel. This gets a 2-pot brake calliper mounted axially. The rear disc brake is smaller at 230 mm with a single pot calliper. Dual-channel ABS is standard.

Priced at ₹1.85 lakh (ex-showroom) the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z undercuts the competition by a big margin. Other 400cc naked bikes which rival this are the TVS Apache RTR310 and the BMW G310R. It undercuts rivals like the Dominar 400 (₹2.30 lakh) and competes with a broader range: the KTM 250 Duke (₹1.97 lakh) for sharp handling, Yamaha R15 V4 (₹1.87 lakh) for sportiness, Suzuki Gixxer 250 (₹1.84 lakh) for balance and the electric Ather 450 Apex (₹1.90 lakh).
