BMW India will launch the second-gen 2 Series Gran Coupe in India on July 17, 2025. Bookings for the entry-level BMW have opened for a token amount of ₹1.5 lakh through its portal and dealerships. The entry-level BMW sedan will come in only one trim – 218 Gran Coupe – meaning it only gets a petrol engine, for now.
The 2nd-gen 2 Series has grown in size; it’s now 20 mm longer and 25 mm taller than the previous generation. Its wheelbase and width have remained unchanged though at 2670 mm and 1800 mm, respectively.

The new baby BMW now features a more evolved design compared to the outgoing model. The grille now gets an illuminated surround, which is standard for the Indian-spec model and it helps add a bit of aggression to the overall stance. It rides on 18-inch M Light alloy wheels and has a few M badges thrown across the car. There are four colours – Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic, Brooklyn Grey and Portimao Blue metallic.

The cabin gets the typical BMW curved display with a 10.25-inch virtual cluster and a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, which runs iDrive OS 9. The dashboard design is similar to the X3, and the seats get power adjustment too, but no ventilation function.

Powering the BMW 2 Series is a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that’s also available in the BMW X1 and MINI Cooper S. In the 2 Series, it produces 154 bhp and 230 Nm with a 7-speed automatic sending power to the front wheels.

The new BMW 2 Series squarely rivals the Mercedes-Benz A-Class (₹46.05 - 48.55 lakh), but the Mercedes also has the option of a diesel engine. It has to be competitively priced for BMW India to race better against the market leader Mercedes-Benz India. Expect the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe to sport a price tag of around ₹46 lakh.
