The 100 Jahre Nürburgring Editions celebrate the 100th anniversary of the iconic Nürburgring circuit in Germany, and marks the arrival of the BMW M5 Touring for the first time in India.
BMW has announced it will be bringing the 100 Jahre Nürburgring Editions of the M5 Touring, M2 Coupé, M3 Competition, M4 Competition and M5 Sedan to India soon. The automaker has begun accepting pre-bookings for the limited-run cars. However, what makes this particularly special is the arrival of the BMW M5 Touring, the first estate (stationwagon) offering in India. The 100 Jahre Nürburgring Editions celebrate the 100th anniversary of the iconic Nürburgring circuit in Germany, nicknamed ‘The Green Hell’ by automotive enthusiasts.
The Nürburgring circuit remains one of the most prestigious and challenging tracks in Europe, and at 20.8 km, it is the longest racetrack ever across the globe. The 100 Jahre Nürburgring Editions will be exclusively available in the ‘Nurburgring Green’ paint scheme with commemorative decals of the track layout and ‘100 year’ stickers. Bringing a nice contrast are the blacked-out alloy wheels with bright-green accents. The cabin gets the all-black treatment with green-and-white contrast stitching across the seats, steering wheel, and door sills. The racetrack layout is embroidered on to the headrests, while the centre console gets a commemorative plaque.

While India is not fond of estates, the arrival of the BMW M5 Touring is certainly a big deal. Set to be available in limited numbers, the M5 Touring will pack exceptional power with a whole lot of practicality, instantly making it a must-have for collectors. Based on the M5 sedan, which is already on sale in India, the M5 Touring draws power from the familiar 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid engine tuned for 717 bhp and 1000 Nm of peak torque. Power goes to all four wheels via the 8-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive (AWD). The Touring can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 3.6 seconds with the top speed capped at 250 kmph (305 kmph with the optional M Driver’s pack). The PHEV nature also gives it an electric-only range of 67 km (WLTP).

BMW will also bring the M3 Competition to the market with the limited edition offering, joining the M4 that’s on sale. The M3 Competition packs the 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six motor churning out 523 bhp and 650 Nm of peak torque with an 8-speed automatic and AWD. The M# Competition sprints from 0-100 kmph in 3.5 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph (290 kmph with the optional M Driver’s pack).

Lastly, the BMW M2 will get the AWD variant with the 100 Jahre Nürburgring Edition. The M2 xDrive uses the same engine as the M3 with power capped at 473 bhp and 600 Nm. Unlike the standard M2, power goes to all four wheels via the 8-speed torque converter, and the two-door offering is capable of accelerating from 0-100 kmph in 3.7 seconds.
