The company says it held more than 70 per cent of the luxury electric vehicle segment in India in the quarter.

BMW Group India delivered 4,567 cars in the January to March 2026 quarter, a rise of 17 per cent over the same period a year earlier. The tally covers the BMW and MINI brands in the country and marks the group’s latest update on its performance in the calendar year.

For the January to March 2026 period, BMW Motorrad delivered 1,216 motorcycles in India. Taken together, BMW Group India reached 5,783 vehicles across cars and motorcycles in Q1 2026, compared with 5,287 a year earlier.

Within the car business, MINI contributed 213 units in Q1 2026, higher than 150 units in Q1 2025. The BMW brand accounted for the balance of the car volume during the quarter.

Electric vehicles formed a growing share of BMW Group India’s car sales in the period. The company reported 1,185 BMW and MINI EVs in Q1 2026, equal to 26 per cent of its car deliveries and 83 per cent growth over the same quarter last year.

In the first quarter of 2025, BMW Group India had delivered 3,914 cars, made up of 3,764 BMW units and 150 MINI units. On the two-wheeler side, BMW Motorrad reported 1,373 motorcycles in that quarter.

BMW Group India said it held more than 70 per cent share of the luxury electric vehicle segment in India in the quarter. Long wheelbase models contributed 2,256 units and a little over half of car sales, while sports activity vehicles accounted for 2,966 units and about two thirds of the car mix.

Data from the VAHAN registration portal showed BMW India with 4,944 car registrations in Q1 2026, covering internal combustion engine and electric models. The same data set put Mercedes-Benz India at 4,863 registrations for the quarter, with volumes close to its level in Q1 2025.

These numbers indicate a small lead for BMW India over Mercedes-Benz India in car registrations during the first quarter of the calendar year. The two German brands remain close in overall volume, with the gap measured in tens of units rather than thousands.

Audi India reported sales of 1,223 cars in Q1 2025, a 17 per cent increase over Q1 2024, but had not released its Q1 2026 tally at the time of this report. As a result, comparisons for the latest quarter rely on BMW and Mercedes-Benz data, with Audi trends available only up to the previous year.
