BMW India has launched the diesel variant of the 7 Series – 740d M Sport and the i7 M70 xDrive in the country at Rs. 1.81 crore and Rs. 2.50 crore (ex-showroom, India) respectively. With this, the company expands its 7 Series range, offering petrol, diesel, and electric versions. While the 740d M Sport is locally produced, the all-electric i7 M70 xDrive will be a completely built-up unit (CBU).

Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “With the addition of the BMW i7 M70 xDrive and the BMW 740d M Sport, our flagship is now available as a petrol, diesel, electric, and all-electric performance model. This diversification allows us to cater to all customer preferences and meet the overwhelming demand for the 7 Series in the Indian market.”
The BMW 740d M Sport is available in Oxide Grey, Mineral White, Black Sapphire, and BMW Individual Tanzanite Blue, while the i7 M70 xDrive is available in Black Sapphire Roof or Oxide Grey Roof paintwork. Inside, both the 740d M Sport and i7 M70 xDrive are offered in ‘Merino’ upholstery with Amarone, Tartufo, Mocha, Black, and Smoke White themes.
Powering the BMW 740d M Sport is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine developing 282 bhp and 650 Nm @1,500 – 2,500 rpm that accelerates from 0–100 kmph in just 6 seconds with a top speed of 250 kmph. On the other hand, the i7 M70 xDrive is powered by a 101.7 kWh battery that helps develop 651 bhp and 1100 Nm with a claimed range of up to 560 km. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 kmph.
