BMW is gearing up to introduce the M4 CS performance sedan in India on October 4, marking the arrival of a high-performance model that sits between the standard M4 and the more extreme M4 GTS. Designed to blend track-focused performance with daily drivability, the M4 CS is expected to appeal to enthusiasts looking for a vehicle that offers the thrill of motorsport while remaining practical for everyday use. The model will most likely enter the Indian market as a limited edition, imported through the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route.

The latest version of the M4 CS incorporates design elements that highlight BMW's evolving design philosophy. Most notably, the sedan features a wider kidney grille and sharper, more angular lines that enhance its aggressive appearance. A striking detail that stands out is the yellow inlays in the headlights, adding a bold visual contrast that underscores the vehicle's motorsport heritage. The front profile is designed to reflect its high-performance character, while the rear follows suit with M-specific design cues.
True to its performance pedigree, the M4 CS benefits from lightweight materials that help improve both speed and handling. The use of carbon fibre components, such as in the roof and seats, reduces overall weight and lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity, enhancing cornering stability and dynamic driving performance. Aerodynamics are another key focus, with improvements aimed at increasing airflow and downforce to optimise track performance.
The interior of the BMW M4 CS maintains a balance between luxury and performance. The cabin is minimalist yet infused with race-inspired elements, notably the carbon fibre racing seats that feature unique CS badging embroidered into the headrests. The driver-focused layout includes a three-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel and a squared-off design that enhances grip and control during spirited driving.
BMW's advanced technology is also evident inside the M4 CS. A 14.9-inch curved touchscreen display, combined with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, forms the centrepiece of the cockpit, providing the driver with key performance metrics and navigation options. The use of M branding throughout the cabin serves as a subtle reminder of the vehicle's motorsport DNA, while retaining the comfort and sophistication expected from the German automaker.
Under the hood, the BMW M4 CS is powered by the brand's 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, a unit known for its high output and responsiveness. Producing 542 bhp and 649 Nm of torque, the engine allows the M4 CS to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds.
For those who seek even more thrills, the car can reach 200 kmph in just 11.1 seconds, with an electronically controlled top speed of 303 kmph. The power is transmitted through an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the M-specific xDrive all-wheel-drive system ensures optimal traction and stability.
While official pricing for the Indian market is yet to be confirmed, estimates suggest that the M4 CS will carry a starting ex-showroom price exceeding Rs 1.50 crore. This pricing would position the M4 CS in the upper echelon of the performance coupe market, competing with rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, Audi RS5, and the Maserati Gran Turismo.
