BMW India will introduce 27 product interventions in 2026, comprising six new models, four replacements and 17 refreshes or facelifts, according to Hardeep Brar, President of BMW India. The company sold 18,000 cars in India in 2025, growing 14 per cent from the year prior.
In a conversation with AckoDrive, Brar stated, "So 2026 is going to be really big for us. We are launching 10 new models, out of which six are going to be absolutely new models and four existing models will come with a big refreshment. Besides these 10, we also have 17 model changes in the existing ones. They are minor upgrades or facelifts. So a huge focus on the product is going to happen in 2026, and which is why we would like to continue with the growth rate which we have planned in the past."
Over one-third of the 10 new launches and 17 product upgrades will come under the MINI brand, with models including electric vehicles. BMW started locally assembling the iX1 EV in India in 2025, its first such attempt for an electric model. In fact the car went on to win the prestigious Premium Car Of The Year Award at the 2026 Acko Drive Awards. This allowed the company to price the car competitively against petrol models and boosted clean car sales by 200 per cent. Electric vehicles now make up 21 per cent of BMW India sales, up from approximately 8 per cent in 2024.

BMW currently sources about 50 per cent of parts locally for cars assembled in India, including seats, engines, axles and tyres. The company plans to increase local sourcing and is evaluating sourcing electric vehicle components like motors locally.
In the luxury car segment, Mercedes-Benz India recorded sales of 2,657 vehicles in September 2025, its highest monthly tally in history. This represented a 66 per cent increase over September 2024. Mercedes-Benz achieved 5,119 units in Q2 FY 25-26, with 9,357 units sold in the first half of the fiscal year. Audi India sold 4,510 units in 2025, supported by festive demand, growth in SUVs, performance models and the Audi Approved pre-owned car business.
Luxury cars comprise 1 per cent of total India car sales of over 4 million, mainly because of import taxes, which makes pricing steep. BMW expects to maintain its growth momentum in 2026 with the planned launches and upgrades.
