Some Maruti Suzuki dealerships are taking orders for the new Swift for a token amount of ₹11,000.
Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the fourth-generation Swift in India next month. Ahead of that, some Maruti Suzuki dealerships have already begun accepting bookings unofficially, for a token amount of ₹11,000. Dealer sources have also confirmed that the new Swift will come with a hybrid powertrain.
The new Swift made its global debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 and has already been spotted testing in India. The design of the new Swift is more evolutionary than revolutionary, compared to the third-generation model. It has a hexagonal grille but with a more rounded design, L-shaped LED DRLs and projector LED headlamps.
Furthermore, the new Swift's rear door handles have moved down to the door from the C pillar and it also gets a new design for the alloy wheels. At the back, the fourth-gen Swift gets C-shaped lighting elements in the taillamps and the number plate has a hexagonal shape, like the grille. The redesigned rear bumpers also have the reflectors, a first for the Swift.
The new Swift gets a layered dashboard design with the large, 9-inch infotainment touchscreen taking centre stage. It gets similar switchgear for the HVAC controls and the steering wheel as the new Maruti Suzuki models like the Baleno, Fronx and Grand Vitara. The new Swift also gets a small MID in the instrument cluster.
Under the hood, the fourth-gen Swift has a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine producing 80 bhp and 108 Nm. The mild-hybrid assist provides a boost of up to 3 bhp and 60 Nm. While the international-spec model gets a 5-speed manual along with a CVT, the Indian-spec model will get the manual gearbox but there is no confirmation on its automatic gearbox.
Expect the new Swift to be priced at a slight premium over the outgoing model which retails for ₹5.99 - 8.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Once launched, the new Swift will rival the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios (₹5.92 - 8.23 lakh) and Tata Tiago (₹5.65 - 8.90 lakh). All prices ex-showroom, India.
