We anticipate the BSA Gold Star 650 will be its first model to launch in India.
BSA Motorcycles, a famous British motorcycle brand, is finally set to make its much-anticipated debut in India on August 15, 2024. The first model expected to be launched is the BSA Gold Star 650. It is a classic-styled single-cylinder motorcycle that could be the largest single-cylinder engine bike to go sale in the Indian market. The Block-your-date invite that the company has sent through Classic Legends which is the holding company for BSA Motorcycles has generated significant interest among enthusiasts.
This marks a significant development for Classic Legends, the Indian company behind the revival of Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles. As of now, BSA Gold Star 650 is manufactured in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. Powering the BSA Gold Star 650 is a 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 45 bhp and 55 Nm of torque. The Gold Star 650 features a 41mm telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. The motorcycle comes equipped with disc brakes with ABS on both the front and rear wheels. This bike had been last spotted testing back in April 2023. It also looked like a complete production model and was ready to be launched.
Previously, Classic Legends did not hold the rights to the BSA brand name in India, which caused a delay in the launch of the Gold Star. After securing the rights, the company is now able to bring the BSA Gold Star 650 to the Indian market on August 15th, 2024.
BSA is forging ahead with its global expansion strategy. The brand plans to enter key markets like the US, Japan, and Australia in 2024. Additionally, BSA has ventured into the electric motorcycle segment with the backing of a substantial grant from the UK government. This electric motorcycle is expected to be manufactured at Mahindra & Mahindra's plant in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh.
The BSA Goldstar will compete with the Royal Enfield Classic Interceptor 650 which is powered by a twin-cylinder engine. As for pricing, the new BSA motorcycle could retails around ₹ 3 lakh (ex-showroom).
