BYD offers the Sealion 05 EV in two variants, both utilising a rear-wheel-drive setup.
BYD has officially revealed the Sealion 05 EV, a compact all-electric SUV designed to expand the brand’s growing electric lineup. The Sealion 05 EV offers two battery options, modern styling, and advanced driver assistance features. However, there is no official confirmation of its India arrival yet.
The Sealion 05 EV sports a sleek, contemporary design that distinguishes it from its plug-in hybrid counterpart. Up front, it features a connected LED headlamp setup, accompanied by a wide air intake and vertical air vents that lend the SUV a bold stance. The side profile is accentuated by pronounced plastic cladding and a floating roof effect, achieved through blacked-out elements on the D-pillar. The rear showcases a full-width LED light bar and a roof-mounted spoiler, adding a sporty touch.
In terms of dimensions, the Sealion 05 EV measures 4,520 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. While slightly shorter overall than its hybrid sibling, the electric variant boasts a marginally longer wheelbase, optimising cabin space. The vehicle weighs either 1,670 kg or 1,780 kg depending on the battery configuration.
BYD offers the Sealion 05 EV in two variants, both with a rear-wheel-drive setup. The entry-level model has a 50 kWh battery pack that delivers 185 bhp and offers a claimed range of 430 km. The higher-spec variant features a larger 60.9 kWh battery pack, which increases power output to 211 bhp and extends the range to 520 km on a single charge.
The Sealion 05 EV comes equipped with BYD’s “God’s Eye C” advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) as standard across the range. This suite of safety and convenience features reflects the brand’s commitment to enhancing driving experience and vehicle safety. Additionally, BYD claims the Sealion 05 EV offers a class-leading turning radius, making it well-suited for navigating urban environments.
