Electric SUV's Expanding Line-Up, Including A New Festive Edition, Underscores BYD's Push To Widen Its Footprint In India's Premium EV Space.

BYD India said on Monday that the Sealion 7 electric SUV has crossed 5,000 deliveries in the country since its launch in February 2025, a milestone the company credits to sustained demand across its expanding variant line-up.

The electric SUV, built on BYD's Blade Battery and Cell-to-Body architecture, is offered in four versions. The range-topping Premium variant pairs an 82.56 kWh battery with a claimed NEDC range of 567 km, while the dual-motor Performance variant produces 390 kW and 690 Nm, with a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds. Both get a panoramic glass roof and a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, features that have become talking points in a segment where Indian buyers increasingly expect premium cabin technology to match outright performance.

BYD widened the Sealion 7's reach in August with the Dynamic variant, priced at an introductory Rs 41.90 lakh (ex-showroom), which uses a smaller 71.8 kWh battery for a claimed 520 km range. The move lowers the entry point into the range without stripping out signature features such as the glass roof and rotating display — a tactic aimed at pulling in buyers who found the Premium and Performance variants priced out of reach.

More recently, the company launched a Festive Edition in October, limited to 150 units at Rs 50.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Based on the Premium variant, it adds a Tan and Black cabin, quilted Nappa leather upholstery, an electric sunshade for the glass roof and a head-up display, and forms part of BYD India's festive-season marketing push.

Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India, said the Sealion 7 has been among the company's strongest performers in the country and reflected growing interest in electric SUVs that combine performance, technology and comfort. He added that the focus going forward was on building on this momentum and improving the ownership experience.
