It’s no secret that Ather Energy is working on its next offering, the Ather Rizta. The upcoming family electric scooter will be bigger than the current Ather 450X and is expected to be more than just a city commuter. In its latest marketing strategy, the marque has roped in famous stand-up comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi to show-off the Rizta, albeit in a camouflaged avatar.
However, the design of the scooter is very prominently different here. For starters, it boasts of a completely new body design. Gone will be the sharp apron design that we fondly associate with Ather Energy. Instead, the front section now looks curvaceous and the size of the footboard looks very utilitarian as well. The rear section is the main talking point of the Rizta, for it now accommodates the largest seat in its class, as per Ather Energy. To back this up, Ather had earlier released images comparing the Rizta’s seat with a popular ICE and EV product, which we deduced to be the Honda Activa and Ola S1 Pro, its two primary competitors.
The Ather Rizta will be built on the same platform that also underpins the current-gen Ather 450 scooters. However, details about the powertrain of the Ather Rizta are still under wraps. For reference, the 450 X is powered by a 3.7 kWh battery paired with a 6.4 kW electric motor. It is likely that Ather will compromise a bit on the performance so as to extract better range from the same components.
Expect the pricing to be aggressive as well, with the likelihood being that it undercuts even the Ather 450S by a fair margin. Ather is expected to announce more details about Rizta during its upcoming Ather Community Day in the next few weeks.
