Murugappa Group’s Tube Investments is well known for producing bicycles under the BSA moniker in India
A week before the launch of the BSA brand in India, Classic Legends and Murugappa Group’s Tube Investments India have entered into a joint venture in which the latter will make certain parts for the former’s motorcycles under the BSA umbrella. Both Classic Legends and TII will invest ₹ 50,000 each into this venture, and four individuals will comprise the board of directors.
TII has been using the BSA name for decades for its highly popular bicycles. The company also makes specialised parts for fitness equipment, automotive ancillaries, and more. Hopefully, their expertise with tubular steel and other materials will help Classic Legends with its upcoming BSA motorcycles, starting with the Gold Star 650, which is slated to launch on August 15.

The arrival of the Gold Star 650 has been in the works for a few years now. The British brand was initially launched in the United Kingdom in 2021, with multiple sightings of the bike taking place on our roads. Classic Legends has decided it was befitting to launch the bike now as the emission norms aren’t likely to change soon.
Staying true to its single-cylinder British roots, the BSA Gold Star 650 is powered by the 652 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor from Rotax. This is the same engine that used to power the BMW F650 Funduro that arrived in India in the mid-1990s. However, the engine tune is said to be quite different with Classic Legends aiming to replicate the feel of a soulful yet hearty 500 cc single of the yesteryears. We will get to see the final bike in the flesh on August 15 with prices likely to be on the premium side.
