Computex 2024: MSI Claw 8 AI+ Handheld with Intel Lunar Lake Announced

At the ongoing Computex 2024 event in Taipei, MSI unveiled its next-generation handheld gaming PC, the Claw 8 AI Plus (stylized as Claw 8 AI+). MSI has confirmed that the Claw 8 AI Plus will be powered by an Intel Core Ultra 'Lunar Lake' processor, marking it the first handheld to feature Intel's latest generation technology.

Not much is known about the specifications yet beyond the new 8-inch FHD touchscreen and Intel chipset. MSI claims the Claw 8 AI Plus will be the most powerful 8-inch gaming handheld when it launches. It is expected to deliver improved performance and battery life over the original Claw launched earlier this year.

In addition to the powerful internals, MSI has updated several hardware aspects based on user feedback. The Claw 8 AI Plus will have an additional Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port, enhanced button triggers, increased battery capacity, and a lightweight wall charger for convenience.

MSI also revealed a limited edition Claw x Fallout handheld co-designed with Bethesda. The special edition Claw features a 7-inch display and takes inspiration from the popular post-apocalyptic game series with a vault-themed exterior design.

With Intel confirming that Lunar Lake chips will launch in Q3 2024, more details about the Claw 8 AI Plus and its specifications are expected in the coming months. Handheld gamers will keep a close eye on MSI's newest handheld as it poses strong competition for rivals like the Asus ROG Ally X.
