The revised policy will have more subsidies for electric vehicles.
The government of Delhi is expected to expedite work on the new policies for electric vehicles, according to a new report by the Times of India. The new policies were put on hold due to the general elections in India and the subsequent model code of conduct.
The EV policy along with the Delhi Solar Policy, 2023 are expected to be put on priority now, an official told The Times of India. The new EV policy will reportedly promote electric vehicles that will include attractive subsidies. The first policy expired in August 2023 but was extended till December last year.
The Delhi Solar Policy, 2023 aims to help consumers reduce electricity usage by installing rooftop solar panels and will have an online portal to help consumers install these. As of now, both these schemes are awaiting approval.
Furthermore, the government of Delhi is making headway with two companies to operate premium app-based buses with air conditioning, reclining seats and WiFi. Recently, the government also gave the green light to Uber to operate its Shuttle bus service in the national capital.
