Ducati has expanded its DesertX lineup with the introduction of the new DesertX Discovery. This variant caters to adventure touring enthusiasts. It offers a host of features for long-distance comfort and off-road capability.
Ducati DesertX Discovery separates itself with a focus on touring practicality. A new black and Ducati Red livery with scratch-resistant decals run throughout the bike. It gets a larger windscreen, heated grips and many other creature comforts. A centre stand simplifies maintenance and luggage loading. Most notably, the Discovery comes equipped with aluminium luggage cases along with mounting points.
DesertX Discovery gets a built-in turn-by-turn navigation system. This system integrates with the Ducati multimedia system and Ducati Link App on a smartphone for additional functionality. Further enhancing the ride, the DesertX Discovery comes equipped with a suite of rider modes. This allows riders to tailor the bike's performance to the riding conditions, with options including Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro, and the new Rally mode. For rider safety and control, the DesertX Discovery features Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), both electronically adjustable to different levels.
Ducati DesertX Discovery stays true to its adventurous roots by retaining the proven 937 cc liquid-cooled Testastretta engine from the standard DesertX. This engine delivers a healthy 110 hp at 9,250 rpm and 92 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. Power is channelled through a 6-speed gearbox with Ducati Quick Shift for seamless gear changes.
Ducati DesertX Discovery chassis layout remains unchanged. It features a tubular steel frame. This platform provides a solid foundation for tackling both paved roads and rough terrain.
Ducati DesertX Discovery inherits the same suspension setup as the standard DesertX. It's a fully adjustable KYB fork with 230mm of travel upfront and a KYB monoshock with 220mm. Braking duties are handled by Brembo M50 monobloc callipers with 320mm discs at the front and a two-piston calliper with a 265mm disc at the rear, providing strong stopping power. Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres continue to equip the wheels, ensuring good grip on various terrains.
The Ducati DesertX Discovery emerges as a compelling option for riders seeking a motorcycle that excels at both conquering challenging roads and devouring long stretches of highway. With its emphasis on touring comfort, luggage capacity, and protective features, the DesertX Discovery is set to be a formidable option for adventure enthusiasts.
