This new concept from the homegrown brand looks quite the exquisite build.
Bengaluru-based Ultraviolette Automotive had a nice surprise at the ongoing EICMA 2024. The brand had on display a rugged adventure cum sports tourer bike called the Concept X. It seemed to be based on the same platform as the current F77 Mach2. However, the underpinnings have been swapped for some pretty premium components. As a result, Ultraviolette has created a nice swanky, yet rugged-looking bike that looks very capable.
Aesthetically, Ultraviolette Automotive has always maintained a sharp-looking persona, which is visible here too. The front section of Concept X is recognisable and has the same LED headlight design. Coupled with the new windscreen, thicker, golden USD fork, and the short beak design, and the exposed chunky 17-inch front shod in road-biased touring tyres — the UV Concept X looks quite large and beefed up from the front. The tank shape is also more sculpted and it is characterised by deep creases and cuts. The pointy tank extensions further extend to the front to maintain the sharp stance of a typical UV bike.
We don’t know the specifications of the powertrain or the size of the battery that will power the bike. For reference, the F77 Mach2 is available with two battery options—7.1 kWh and 10.3 kWh—which are good for 211 km and up to 323 km of range on a single charge, respectively. So, even if the Concept X gets the same options, the final tune of the motor will most likely be different.
Moving on, the battery section gets a protector, which also doubles up as mounts for the aux lamps. The single-piece seat gets a nice contoured surface, and the cave-in looks a bit more capricious here, indicating more comfort for long distance tours. Besides that the tail section looks more or less the same as the F77 Mach2.
The Ultraviolette Concept X was fully specced out with all the optional carry-ons. From tank-top bags to panniers, yellow headlight covers, and knuckle guards. Should Ultraviolette bring the Concept X as a production-spec bike? Heck yes. It would represent a nice range of sports tourer alternatives for Indian enthusiasts who want to be environmentally friendly . It’s a nice proposition for an Indian manufacturer, too, for the Concept X has this distinct vibe similar to the Yamaha Tracer 9 or BMW XR range.
