The new Porsche Macan EV will not just debut a new body style but also several new features.
Porsche is all set to launch a new Macan on January 25 and this time, the SUV will be all-electric. Yes, you read that right. The Macan will be the first SUV as well as the first existing badge to undergo the transition to an EV.
Additionally, Porsche has also released sketch images of the upcoming Macan Electric. For starters, the LED DRLs on the fascia look more similar to the Porsche Taycan. Like most EVs, the Macan Electric will also get a closed grille design and the front bumper now houses big slots for the fog lamps with slits in between, for what we think would be air curtains. Moreover, the Macan Electric will also get ADAS functionality, and just like the current model gets a radar (as per the sketches).
The rear sees some significant changes. Gone is the subtle diffuser available in the current ICE Macans. Instead, the rear now features a new skid plate design and claddings. The whole rear section appears sharper and smoother in design and the tail lamps seem all new with new wrap-around tail lamps.
The interior of the Macan Electric will also see a significant leap in the form of a new dash layout, dominated by a floating, 12.6-inch curved display. Moreover, Porsche will also integrate augmented reality (AR) in the heads-up display system which will display critical information like navigation and speed, which will all be projected onto the windshield.
Although the exact details of the upcoming Macan Electric powertrain are still under wraps, it is expected to get a much more powerful version of the 93.4 kWh battery pack of the Taycan. The new powertrain system is expected to produce around 1000 Nm of torque.
