Speaking at the 64th Annual Convention of the Automotive Component And Manufacturer’s Association, the Minister of Heavy Industries, H D Kumaraswamy clarified that the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) 2024 will be extended beyond September 30. This indicates that the third instalment of the Faster Adoption of Electric Mobility subsidy scheme will be delayed further, at least until further notice.

The Minister of Heavy Industries has pledged continued government backing for India's automotive sector. Speaking at the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association's (ACMA) 64th annual session, the Minister emphasised the government's commitment to maintaining India's position as a global manufacturing and innovation hub.

The government recently launched the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) with a budget of ₹778 crore. This temporary initiative was to bridge the gap between the FAME-II policy and the anticipated FAME-III scheme, both aimed to boost electric vehicle adoption in India.
Looking ahead, the Minister outlined the government's vision for the industry. "We're focused on supporting next-generation technologies and strengthening the domestic supply chain," Kumaraswamy stated.
