Will BSA go larger with twins or smaller with something more approachable?
In our recent interview with Classic Legends’ co-founder Anupam Thareja at the launch of the BSA Gold Star 650, he gave us a few juicy details. He mentioned that there might be another variant of the British single this year itself and we have speculated what route BSA might take as well (read about it in this story). But then he dropped another little nugget:
“Gold Star is a crown jewel of a crown jewel that is BSA. And BSA had a much larger range, and there are great brands and sub-brands in BSA. There’s Golden Flash (and more) but I can’t tell you which brand will come. But the Gold Star will have another variant and then there will be other brands under BSA which you will see very soon from us.”

Yes, there will be more BSA bikes coming in the near future and that is important for it to establish itself from the Jawa Yezdi duo. Thareja mentions the Golden Flash, a bike that was primarily a 650 cc twin, which could be an area of interest. Having two 650 cc bikes wouldn’t make much sense in the current portfolio. Hence, perhaps the Golden Flash might evolve into a 750 cc - 900 cc product, to take on the larger mid-displacement bikes like the Triumph Speed Twin 900 and the Kawasaki W800.
BSA also was known for its small capacity motorcycles like the Bantam and C series, which really helped popularise the brand to the masses. The two-stroker Bantam and commuter class offering C series bikes would also be modernised. BSA wouldn’t go too much into the massy spectrum now, though. Expect something on the lines of a 250-300 cc bike.

While we can speculate what the future might hold for BSA, the present certainly looks promising. The new Gold Star 650 has already started selling in certain pockets of the country and will be available in 50 cities to begin with. It will be present in 75 towns by the end of the year. Hopefully, we should be able to ride this new British muscle soon and bring you all the deets on it.
