The Orbiter could be a new sporty 110cc scooter based on the Jupiter platform.

TVS recently shared a teaser with us for an upcoming product launch later this month. While our assumption is that the new TVS product could be the much awaited update to the Jupiter 110, the brand has also trademarked the name Orbiter. Manufacturers often trademark a lot of names and IPs, but it isn’t necessary that all these names turn into a production offering. However, we can still speculate what the TVS Orbiter could be.

If I had to guess, the Orbiter can be a product based on Jupiter given their space connection. The TVS Jupiter has been a runaway success for the brand and is currently the second-highest selling scooter in the Indian market. The Jupiter addresses the need of a 110cc family scooter, but when one takes a look at TVS’s scooter portfolio, a sporty 110cc scooter is missing. In the 125cc segment, the brand has this gap covered with NTorq taking the responsibility of a sporty 125cc scooter and the Jupiter 125 being a practical offering. So TVS can introduce a sporty 110cc scooter in the form of the TVS Orbiter.

With fuel prices increasing every passing year, demand for frugal 110cc scooters have increased too. There is a big market for sporty 110cc scooters as they offer sharp styling while being light on the wallet as well. While the Honda Dio was the pioneer of this segment that mantle now rests with the Hero Xoom 110 which has performed well with respect to sales. The TVS Orbiter should follow this direction and flaunt a sporty and aggressive styling taking inspiration from the NTorq.

On the mechanical front, the engine and the underpinnings can be shared with the Jupiter 110. The only focus area could be a sportier engine tune for peppy performance. Prices for the TVS NTorq start at ₹90,000 and for the Jupiter 110 is priced between ₹74,000-91,000. The TVS Orbiter can slot in between the above two scooters thereby offering good value too. As we mentioned at the start, this is just a speculative article, but we do hope a sporty TVS 110cc scooter is in the works.
