The spotted e-scooter has family-centric aspirations while still managing to pack stylish elements

We have managed to snap up Kinetic’s upcoming family electric scooter during its testing phase on the outskirts of Pune. The e-Luna maker had made us known that a high speed (above 40 kmph that is) premium e-scooter was in the making and would be launched this year. And the new snaps give us a neat indication of what the scooter intends to offer.

For starters, the scooter doesn’t look quite as homely and elegant as traditional family scooters. Kinetic seems to have added a touch of zing, sportiness and stylishness with the curved side panels and a sharp fascia. LED lighting all around seems to be an obvious choice considering how energy efficient the system is, making it a very important consideration for an electric vehicle.

Don’t expect it to have a lot of underseat space also as the body isn’t quite flared and neither is the seat that wide. Thankfully, the floor space looks plenty spacious for daily backpacks and carrying shopping needs.

It was powered by a hub motor and was maintaining a speed of around 45-50 kmph. Given it was a test cycle, the speeds maintained by the test rider seem logical. However, we expect Kinetic to at least give this ‘premium’ e-scooter a top speed of around 75-80 kmph and a real-world range of 85-90 km as well. That should be plenty enough for a lot of buyers.

This upcoming Kinetic e-scooter is likely to have an underbone chassis that is sprung by a telescopic fork and twin rear shocks. It will roll on 12-inch alloy wheels with a front disc and rear drum brake spotted on the test mule. CBS is going to be standard.

Pricing will be key here for Kinetic. Ola, Ather, TVS and Bajaj have e-scooters that will be its natural rival. Hence, if pricing could start from ₹ 1 lakh for the base option, it would be a good start. And then a fancier features-equipped variant could attract a premium.
