This is the second facelift for the full-size luxury SUV from Volvo.
Volvo Cars India’s first launch for 2025 is the XC90 facelift that debuted globally late last year. This is the second facelift for the XC90 and unlike earlier, the latest refreshed version for the full-size luxury SUV only comes with hybrid powertrains.
The XC90 facelift gets a subtly redesigned fascia with an updated Thor’s Hammer LED headlamps, maintaining the brand’s signature look. It also features a redesigned grille with more diagonal lines.
Inside, the XC90 facelift comes with a larger, 11.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, extra storage space in the centre console, a wireless smartphone charger, and a refreshed dashboard design. The XC90 continues to be available with 5-, 6- and 7-seat configurations and it is likely the latter two will come to India.
The XC90 facelift is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to either a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist or a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system. With the mild hybrid system, the XC90 facelift churns out 247 bhp and 360 Nm with the B5 variant or 295 bhp and 420 Nm with the B6 variant. The PHEV develops 306 bhp and 400 Nm with the T8 variant.
It remains to be seen which powertrain will come to India but it seems unlikely that the PHEV will be on the cards. It will be good to see it come to India though since the outgoing model did have the powertrain at a point of time. As for prices, the outgoing model is currently priced at ₹1.01 crore* and expect the facelift to come with a slight premium. Once launched, it will rival the likes of the Audi Q7 (₹88.70 – 97.85 lakh*), BMW X7 (₹1.31 – 1.35 crore*) and Mercedes-Benz GLS (₹1.34 – ₹1.39 crore*)
