Ferrari has revealed its latest hypercar, the F80, setting new benchmarks in performance with a 0-100 kmph time of 2.15 seconds, making it the fastest accelerating ICE road car ever produced.
Limited to 799 units and priced at 3.6 million Euros (approx ₹31.64 crore), the F80 marks a significant departure from tradition, powered by a hybrid powertrain combining a 120-degree 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine with electric motors. The combustion engine alone produces 900 bhp, while the hybrid system adds another 300 bhp, totalling an impressive 1200 bhp.
The hybrid system features an 800 V architecture with a race-derived 2.3 kWh battery, delivering 325 bhp peak output while weighing 38 kg less than its predecessor. The e-4WD system, featuring two front electric motors and one rear MGU-K, enables advanced torque vectoring and controlled slides at the limit.
Aerodynamically, the F80 breaks new ground with Formula 1-inspired features, generating 1050 kg of downforce at 250 kmph. The car features an innovative underfloor design with barge boards, a tri-plane wing, and an active rear wing that can lift 200 mm and tilt.
The chassis employs an asymmetric carbon fibre design, with the driver's side wider than the passenger side, reducing weight by 5 per cent and increasing stiffness by 50 per cent compared to the LaFerrari. This unique design makes the F80 exclusively left-hand drive, excluding it from markets like India.
Inside, the cockpit adopts a single-seater approach with staggered seating positions and butterfly doors. The interior features fewer capacitive buttons on the steering wheel and includes modern amenities like wireless phone charging.
Performance figures are staggering: 0-200 kmph in 5.75 seconds and a top speed exceeding 350 kmph. The car also sets new braking records, stopping from 100 kmph in just 28 meters.
All 799 units have already been allocated to specially selected customers, maintaining Ferrari's tradition of exclusive distribution even among those who can afford the price tag.
This latest Ferrari joins an illustrious lineage of special models including the 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, and LaFerrari, marking a new chapter in the company's pursuit of automotive excellence.
