2027-i20-teaser

The upcoming fourth-generation i20 will get a premium cabin overhaul, featuring unified 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and instrument cluster, as well as touch-based climate controls.

Hyundai Brazil has been constantly teasing the fourth-gen i20 of late, and a new teaser reveals a modernised interior focused heavily on digital interfaces and connected car technology.

The most notable revision inside the next-gen i20 is the introduction of a massive dual 12.3-inch integrated display panel. As per the teaser, this unified screen setup seamlessly combines the digital driver's instrument cluster with the central touchscreen infotainment interface, bringing the premium hatchback in line with the design language seen on newer global models from the manufacturer.

According to official details, the new system will support Hyundai Bluelink connected car technology as well as wireless smartphone mirroring connectivity

However, the car will adopt touch-sensitive climate control functions, replacing conventional physical buttons and dials. This entire dashboard configuration and technological architecture closely track the interior updates recently introduced on the latest-generation Hyundai Venue and Hyundai Verna sedan, indicating a standardised cabin rollout across the brand's offerings.

Previous previews have already outlined major design departures for the exterior of the hatchback. The fourth-gen i20 adopts an increasingly popular connected lighting treatment, featuring multi-projector LED headlamps flanked by full-width front and rear light bars.

The front assembly sports sharp, Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps and a revised grille layout that sits independently from the main headlamp clusters, reminiscent of the new Verna. Additionally, the brushed aluminium brand emblem has been repositioned from the grille onto the lower edge of the bonnet.

At the rear, the vehicle incorporates redesigned C-shaped LED tail-lamps joined by a central light strip under a more steeply raked rear windscreen. The premium hatchback is also expected to feature increased overall dimensions compared to the outgoing version.

While global iterations like the Brazilian-spec model are expected to receive local alternatives such as flex-fuel powertrains, the India-spec hatchback will likely maintain mechanical continuity. It is anticipated to retain the current 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine along with the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine reserved for the sportier N Line variants.

The new-generation i20 is expected to make its commercial market entry into India by early 2027, renewing its rivalry against segment competitors like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Tata Altroz.
