The GV90 is Genesis' most luxurious car yet, and it's fully electric.
The Korean marque's first full-size electric SUV brings coach doors, a 123.5kWh battery and a raft of segment-first safety features, though an India launch remains some years away.
The model, offered in standard GV90 and range-topping GV90 Neolun variants, is the production version of the Neolun concept the brand showed in 2024, and represents its most technologically dense vehicle to date.
Built on the eMP platform reserved for Genesis' flagship models, the GV90 Neolun introduces the Neolun Arch Gate — described by the company as the first independently opening hidden B-pillar coach doors of their kind — allowing front and rear doors to swing open facing each other for wider cabin access. Genesis says a dual-motion hinge mechanism lets the rear doors slide out before rotating open, and that safety is preserved despite the missing B-pillar through dual steel beams and a reinforced roll cage built into the body.

Power comes from a 123.5kWh battery, the largest fitted to any Hyundai Motor Group electric vehicle, paired with front and rear motors producing a combined 490kW and 800Nm. Genesis quotes an internal range estimate of roughly 500km on the seven-seat variant, with 10-80% charging in 22 minutes on a 350kW charger — figures based on the company's own testing rather than independent certification. The GV90 also gets a Dual Electronic Limited Slip Differential, rear-wheel steering and multi-chamber air suspension, aimed at the kind of composed, cosseting ride expected of a flagship.

Safety features include what Genesis calls the first roof airbag designed for rollover protection, alongside 11 other airbags, an in-cabin monitoring system and thermal runaway protection for the battery pack. The cabin is built around a 23.6-inch OLED display that extends to 24.6 inches when parked, a 25-inch head-up display, and Pleos Connect, Hyundai Motor Group's Android Automotive-based infotainment system with an onboard generative AI assistant called Gleo AI.
"GV90 is not simply a new vehicle, but a new vision for luxury mobility," said Euisun Chung, Executive Chair of Hyundai Motor Group, at the unveiling.
The launch matters for India because Hyundai has already confirmed Genesis will enter the market by 2027, manufactured locally from CKD kits through Hyundai Motor India, with the GV70 and GV80 SUVs expected to lead the range. The GV90 has been flagged as a likely later addition rather than a launch model, positioning it well beyond the near term for Indian buyers.
Genesis would enter a segment already contested by Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Volvo and Lexus, none of which has found high volumes in India's price-sensitive luxury space — a dynamic Hyundai will need to navigate carefully even as it leans on its existing dealer and service network to give Genesis a head start over past niche entrants.
