Expect a ₹ 4 lakh price tag for the sporty India-made Italian naked.
The latest and possibly the toughest challenger to the KTM 390 Duke’s supremacy is upon us as Aprilia is readying the Tuono 457 to attack the Indian streets soon. The launch of the bike is expected to take place sometime in February, as we have received a ‘Block Your Date’ for perhaps the first ride of the bike, which is sometime towards the middle of the month.
Given that Aprilia has increased the asking price of the RS 457 to ₹ 4.20 lakh (ex-showroom), this would allow the Italians to price the Tuono closer to the ₹ 4 lakh mark, and maybe even slightly lesser. Currently, the 390 Duke retails at ₹ 3.13 lakh, which would mean that there would be a sizeable price buffer between the two. The Tuono, though, will have a lot of goodies to give the Duke a good run for its money.
The same 47 bhp and 43.5 Nm producing liquid-cooled twin, aluminium twin spar frame, aluminium swingarm, preload-adjustable suspension components as well as wheel assembly from the RS 457 will make its way here. The fuel tank is said to be just 0.3 litres smaller, which shouldn’t make much of a difference.
Where the differences arise are the styling department as well as the ergonomics. No fairing was a given but instead of adopting the same headlight with a bikini fairing-look like other Tuonos, the Tuono 457 looks radically different than its RS counterpart, something that has drawn a lot of ire online. And personally too, it doesn’t give off that premium wow feel.
The more welcoming thing would be the more relaxed ergonomics which would make the Tuono less of a hassle on commutes. A flat wide handlebar and revised footpegs will make it better suited for our roads. The final drive too is revised to make it slightly more versatile for daily riding.
Overall, the Tuono 457 is expected to be one of the hottest bikes to come in 2025. Hopefully, it too should help Aprilia’s popularity grow among budding enthusiasts like the RS 457 did.
