MG3 will also be available for customers across Europe, unlike previously, when it was offered in the UK alone.
At the ongoing Geneva International Motor Show, MG unveiled its new hatchback for the global market, the MG3. Available earlier for the UK only, the new MG3 will now also go on sale other European markets.
There are two variants of the MG3 and both will share the brand’s all-new Hybrid+ powertrain. In addition to that, there are also new features, and the overall size of the hatchback has also increased without compromising on its compact footprint.
The MG3 will be available in two variants: Excite and Exclusive. Both the base-spec and higher-spec variants share features like four USB ports, rear parking sensors and a camera, and the new twin-screen cockpit. The Exclusive variant further adds leatherette upholstery, keyless entry, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a 360-degree camera among others to this list.

Under the hood of the MG3 is the marque’s new Hybrid+ powertrain. It now equips a larger battery pack and a more powerful electric motor. Paired to a 100 bhp, 1.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson Cycle petrol engine is a 134 bhp electric motor, along with a separate generator motor.
In typical hybrid fashion, the MG3 hatchback is available with several drive modes which are - EV, Series, Series and Charge, Drive and Charge, and Parallel. The first mode sees the hatchback run on battery power only, the second mode allows the engine to run through the generator, and also power the electric motor for drive. The third mode allows Series driving, and at the same recharges the battery under low load, the fourth mode sees the engine drive the four-wheel, while also charging the battery through the generator. While the last mode sees both the petrol and electric motor power the wheels simultaneously. Additionally, the MG3 is also available with Eco, Standard, and Sport modes. These drive modes calibrate the fuel economy and throttle response of the car.

MG claims that the MG3 is now the fastest in the hybrid B-segment model in the class with this new Hybrid+ powertrain. 0-100 kmph comes up in just 8 seconds, while rolling accelerating from 80-120 kmph can be achieved in just 5 seconds.
The chassis of the MG3 has been updated to include the use of new ultra-high stiffness components. The suspension has also been redesigned for reduced weight and improved grip. Dimensions have changed with the MG3 now both longer and wider than the model it replaces. MG also claims that the new 2024 MG3 now has the largest boot space in the hybrid B-segment class
As mentioned above, the dashboard of the MG3 will now feature a new twin-screen cockpit that includes the 7-inch digital instrument cluster and the 10.25-inch infotainment screen. Satellite navigation will be available as standard along with wireless smartphone integration with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
In addition to these, the MG3 is also available with the iSMART connectivity solution which is usually associated with the brand’s premium offering. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) functionalities like Lane Departure Warning system, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Traffic Jam Assist, via MG Pilot Technology are also available as standard with the MG3.
MG has not made any comment about launching the MG3 in India. However, given our customers' increasing preference for hybrid vehicles, the MG3 would fit in easily to our burgeoning car scenario.
