Google has appointed Preeti Lobana as its new country manager and vice president for India, as reported by news agency PTI. Lobana takes over from Sanjay Gupta, who has moved to a broader role as President of the Asia Pacific region.
"A seasoned Googler with eight years of experience as Vice President of customer-centric solutions, Preeti will now spearhead Google India's sales and operations, driving the company's commitment to India's burgeoning digital economy," said a media release by Google.
In her new position, Lobana is set to drive Google's strategic initiatives in India, with a particular emphasis on harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to create transformative opportunities. Her appointment comes at a critical time when AI is rapidly reshaping technological landscapes.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment to shape the future with AI, unlocking unprecedented opportunities for businesses to boost productivity, solve critical challenges, and create innovative solutions. I'm deeply committed to working with our talented teams and partners to drive economic growth and deliver meaningful value across India," Lobana wrote on her LinkedIn page.

Bringing over three decades of senior leadership experience, Lobana arrives with a rich professional history spanning technology and financial industries. Her career demonstrates a consistent commitment to business transformation, operational excellence, and enhanced customer experiences.
Sanjay Gupta expressed enthusiasm about Lobana's appointment, highlighting the potential of AI technologies like Gemini 2.0 to accelerate digital inclusion and unlock economic possibilities across India.
Lobana will work closely with Roma Datta Chobey, who previously served as interim country manager and continues her role as Managing Director for Google India's Digital Native Industries.
Prior to this appointment, Lobana served as Google's Vice President for gTech, overseeing global teams in process, partner, and publisher operations. Her professional journey includes significant leadership positions at renowned institutions such as NatWest Group, American Express, Standard Chartered Bank, and ANZ Grindlays Bank.
