Google has officially launched its latest smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 3, alongside the new Pixel Buds Pro 2. These wearable devices were introduced at the Made by Google hardware event, which also saw the launch of the Pixel 9 series smartphones.
The Pixel Watch 3 represents a notable evolution from its predecessor, offering users a choice between two sizes for the first time: 41mm and 45mm. While maintaining the sleek circular design that characterized the previous model, the new watch boasts thinner bezels, reducing them by over 16 percent compared to the Pixel Watch 2.
Both variants feature Google's Actua display, capable of an impressive 2,000 nits peak brightness—double that of last year's model. This significant boost in luminance ensures excellent visibility even in bright outdoor conditions, while also dimming to just one nit in dark environments for comfortable nighttime use.
Under the hood, the Pixel Watch 3 retains the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 SoC but introduces a game-changing addition: a UWB (Ultra-Wideband) chip. This makes it the first Android smartwatch to offer UWB connectivity, enhancing its capabilities for device unlocking and integration with Google's Find My Device feature.
The smartwatch offers comprehensive health and fitness tracking features, including heart rate monitoring, ECG readings, SpO2 measurement, and skin temperature sensing. New additions to the fitness arsenal include complex run routine planning and detailed metrics such as cadence, stride length, and vertical oscillation. The watch also introduces readiness and cardio load-tracking features to help users optimize their training and recovery.
Battery life remains a focus, with Google promising up to 24 hours of use with the always-on display enabled, extendable to 36 hours in battery saver mode. The 41mm model retains the 310 mAh battery of its predecessor, while the 45mm version houses a larger 420 mAh cell. Notably, the charging speed has been improved, with Google claiming a 20% faster charging rate for the 41mm variant.
Alongside the Pixel Watch 3, Google introduced the Pixel Buds Pro 2, its first truly wireless earbuds to feature the company's custom-designed Tensor A1 chip. This powerful processor enables significant improvements in audio processing and noise cancellation capabilities.
According to Google, the Tensor A1 chip processes audio 90 times faster than the speed of sound, allowing for more refined active noise cancellation (ANC). The company claims that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 can cancel twice as much noise in mid-frequency ranges compared to their predecessors, with ANC adapting to the environment a staggering three million times per second.
The earbuds feature 11mm dynamic drivers and support spatial audio with head tracking for an immersive listening experience. Google has also focused on call quality, implementing beamforming mics, wind-blocking mesh covers, and AI algorithms to ensure clear communication.
Battery life is impressive, with up to 8 hours of listening time with ANC enabled and 12 hours with ANC off. When combined with the charging case, users can expect up to 30 hours of total playtime with ANC on or 48 hours with it off. The case also supports wireless charging for added convenience.
The Pixel Watch 3 starts at Rs 39,900 (41 mm + WiFi) and Rs 43,900 (45 mm + WiFi). It comes in various colour options, including Matte Black Aluminum, Polished Silver Aluminum, and Champagne Gold Aluminum for the 41mm version and a unique matte hazel aluminium finish for the 45mm variant.
The Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2 will be available on August 22 at Flipkart, Reliance Digital, and Croma stores.
