The Haryana Cabinet has approved a 100% motor vehicle tax exemption for electric vehicles priced up to ₹30 lakh, along with a 50% exemption for EVs above ₹30 lakh.
The Haryana Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has approved a complete 100% exemption on motor vehicle tax at the time of registration for all new electric vehicles with an ex-showroom price of up to ₹30 lakh.
Applicable to pure electric and battery-operated two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers purchased and registered in the state, the decision aims to make EV ownership more affordable, curb vehicular emissions, and accelerate the transition toward clean mobility.

Under the updated policy framework, electric vehicles priced above ₹30 lakh will receive a 50% exemption on motor vehicle tax, upgrading the state's previous uniform 20 percent rebate for electric models. Meanwhile, the existing 20 percent tax rebate for CNG vehicles will remain unchanged.
This move follows an announcement made during the 2026-27 state budget and aligns Haryana's EV registration costs with neighbouring union territories like Delhi and Chandigarh.
In a parallel decision aimed at promoting financial independence among women, the Cabinet also approved a 1% motor vehicle tax rebate on non-commercial, non-transport vehicles costing up to ₹20 lakh when purchased and registered in a woman's name.
