Hero has filed a patent for a bike that’s unlike anything else on the market.

Hero MotoCorp has officially patented a highly distinctive ‘Three-wheeled electric motorcycle with storage compartment’.

According to official design filings dated April 28, 2026, which were recently published on the official intellectual property portal of the Government of India, the upcoming premium electric vehicle features a unique tilting three-wheel configuration designed to blend the stability of a compact car with the agile handling dynamics of a conventional maxi-scooter.

The design layout reveals an aggressive, maxi-scooter-inspired front fascia dominated by two independently suspended wheels at the front and a single driven wheel at the rear. This trike architecture indicates that the vehicle will leverage an advanced tilting mechanism, allowing the motorcycle to lean into corners to offer enhanced front-end grip, shorter braking distances, and superior stability across low-traction urban surfaces.

The front profile features a large aerodynamic windscreen and sharp bodywork panels that completely enclose the complex dual-wishbone front suspension linkage. Moving toward the center console, the vehicle integrates a specialised, high-capacity lockable storage compartment positioned right where a traditional motorcycle’s fuel tank resides, providing commuters with a secure space to store riding gear or light cargo.

The rider ergonomics are tailored for long-distance comfort, highlighted by a large, contoured single-piece saddle that tapers into a sleek, upswept rear tail section fitted with a dedicated pillion grab rail and a low-slung rear tire hugger housing the registration plate.

The final patent sheets confirm a clean, hub-motor or mid-ship belt-drive assembly driving the rear wheel, paired with a massive under-floor battery enclosure designed to maximise centre of mass efficiency. Filed through intellectual property firm K&S Partners, the registration specifically protects the structural shape and visual configuration of the electric trike.

While Hero MotoCorp has not yet announced official technical specifications or a commercial launch timeline, the patent indicates that the manufacturer is actively developing niche premium mobility solutions, most likely under its Vida electric sub-brand.
