Comparing the recently updated old player of the commuter segment with the new strong contender
Hero Splendor has been an icon of the commuter 100cc commuter bikes in India. Recently it has gotten an update with the Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 and that makes it fit to compete with the new kid on the block, the Honda Shine 100. These are the two popular choices in this segment and here’s how they stack up against each other.
The Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 starts at ₹ 82,911 (ex-showroom), while the Honda Shine 100 comes in at a more affordable ₹ 64,900 (ex-showroom). This translates to a price difference of ₹ 18,011, making the Honda Shine 100 a considerably more budget-friendly option. But here we are talking about the top-of-the-line variant of the Hero Splendor. The base model of the Splendor starts at ₹75,441 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Honda Shine 100 has a curvier and more modern design aesthetic. It features a sculpted fuel tank, sleek side panels, and a stylish headlight design. This gives the Honda Shine 100 a contemporary look that might appeal to riders who prefer a more modern appearance.
The Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0, on the other hand, stays true to its classic lines. However, it refreshes its age-old design with a touch of modern flair. The use of trendy matte colour options, like black or grey, injects a dose of style that might resonate more with younger riders seeking a stylish everyday companion.
This is where the Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 shines (pun intended). It has Bluetooth connectivity, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a USB charger, making it a tech-savvy commuter's dream. The Honda Shine, on the other hand, likely features basic instrumentation. The ₹18,000 that you pay is for these features that you get on the Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0.
