After nearly a year’s wait, the larger and more powerful scooters from Hero MotoCorp are soon to arrive. The first of which is likely to be the new Xoom 125R, which has been spotted on test quite recently in Rajasthan, near Hero’s CIT. The scooter is likely to take its final form come EICMA 2024 with the launch of the scooter soon thereafter.
The Xoom 125R promises to be Hero’s sportiest scooter offering. The styling is quite like the smaller Xoom 110. However, it appears to have more muscles and presence. We have seen a similar theme with the new Destini 125, as even the new family scooter is larger and more proportionate now. On the 125R, though, the design is sharper than its 110 cc counterpart, with a new LED headlight as well.

Powering the Xoom 125R is a 125 cc engine. Whether or not it is the same as the Destini 125’s or not remains to be seen. However, the Xoom 125R’s engine tune is rather different, as the claimed output at EICMA 2023 was that the motor should dish out 9.4 bhp and 10.16 Nm, which is 0.4 bhp more but 0.26 Nm less than the Destini.
Also, a key difference on the Xoom 125R, which can easily be noticeable on the test mule, is the presence of larger 14-inch wheels. Hero won’t be the first scooter maker to offer that in the 125 cc segment, with Aprilia already having done that on the SR 125 eons ago. Plus, the Xoom 125R tips the scales at 120 kilos, making it one of the heavier scooters in the 125 cc class.
Will the Xoom 125R zoom ahead in the sporty 125 cc class? Considering that it will face stiff competition from the more powerful and lighter TVS NTorq 125 Race XP, the Hero will have its work cut out. We hope to find out just how good this Hero is in the coming few months.
