Technical specifications haven’t been revealed yet but expect a front-wheel drive layout with a single motor setup.

The Honda Alpha is slated for a global debut on December 2, 2026, and India will be the first market to get this new global electric offering. Notably, Honda announced plans to discontinue its 0 Series project — comprising a saloon and an SUV — globally, while the 0 Alpha for India was greenlit as part of a major restructuring exercise.

The new Honda Alpha will be the automaker’s first-ever electric offering for India. The name comes from the first letter of the Greek alphabet, and the automaker says it signifies a new beginning for customers. The upcoming electric SUV is expected to be Elevate-sized and promises a completely new design language. It will also be the first offering to get the new ‘H’ mark adopted for Honda’s automobile business globally.

Speaking on the announcement, Toshiyuki Yanagisawa, President & CEO, Honda Cars India, said, “We are delighted to announce Honda Alpha as the official name of our upcoming electric SUV. Honda Alpha represents our ambition to bring advanced electric mobility to our customers in India while delivering the quality, reliability and joy of driving that Honda is known for.” He added, “With India serving as the global production base for this model in future, it is an important step in Honda’s electrification journey and reflects our strong commitment to the Indian market. We look forward to ushering in a new chapter for Honda in India with this exciting new offering.”

Technical specifications haven’t been revealed yet but expect a front-wheel drive layout with a single motor setup. Honda is expected to offer two battery pack options between 65 kWh and 75 kWh, which should give a range of about 500 km (claimed) on a single charge. Honda will be entering a competitive segment with the Alpha, which will take on the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG Windsor EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, and Tata Sierra EV.

India will be the production hub for the Alpha e-SUV, which will be exported to multiple markets worldwide. The production will take place at Honda’s manufacturing facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan, which also produces the Amaze, City, and Elevate. Meanwhile, the Honda ZR-V, the brand’s flagship offering for India is a full import from Japan.
